We've created a WBW (Who Pays What) group to make it easier to share expenses. Below you can find more information about the workings of it. Joining? Don't forget the initial cash.

Financials

To make things easier and fair for everyone, we have a couple of suggestions for handling costs:
Après Ski & The "Beer Pot"
After a day of skiing, it’s great to reconvene as a group. And then you would like to have a drink together. Instead of keeping track of individual rounds or who owes what, we’re organizing a beer pot. Here’s how it works:
Joining the Pot: Anyone who wants to join can contribute money to the pot. This will cover rounds of drinks for everyone who’s participating.
When: We’ll start the pot at 16:00 and use it until around 19:00
What’s Included: We’ll be buying beer (no Jägerbombs or other crazy stuff). Anything outside of that will be at your own cost.
Contribution: To get things started, we suggest €50 per person in cash for the first round. If we run out, you can contribute an additional €50 cash, but that’s optional. Any unused money will be refunded to those who joined the pot.

Joining the pot is completely optional. If you’re interested, please bring cash to contribute. At the bar we will appoint a member of the party committee to manage the pot!

Ski Locations

KAPRUN

Lechnerberg

Featuring two flat, blue pistes in the center of Kaprun, Lechnerberg is a popular small ski resort perfect for beginners. The practice slopes are located in the Kaprun valley.

Maiskogel

Maiskogel is closest to the village of Kaprun and particularly suitable for less experienced winter sports enthusiasts. The relatively low altitude (1,675 meters), limited range of slopes, and moderate difficulty level make Maiskogel an ideal mountain for beginning skiers.

⛷️ Mountain Lifts: MK Maiskogelbahn & 3K K-onnection

Kitzsteinhorn (Glacier)

Above Maiskogel lies the glacier ski area of Kitzsteinhorn. It features fantastic off-piste freeride skiing & riding on powder days, perfectly groomed slopes for intermediates, and Austria's biggest half pipe.

⛷️ Mountain Lift: Gletscherjet
⚠️ Last recommended lift ride: 13:30
06

ZELL AM SEE

Zillertal Arena

This elongated area is located on a mountain ridge approximately 20 km long. After the lifts, you'll find a dream for every beginner and intermediate skier. Above the chalet village of Königsleiten lies more challenging terrain with several black runs and many reds. The Königsleitenspitze near Königsleiten is also the mountain where the most interesting off-piste lines are found. Zell am Ziller mainly offers red slopes. This village at just 600 meters altitude has had its own valley descent since 2015.

⛷️ Recommended Lifts: Dorfbahn & Isskogelbahn
🕐 Open: 08:30 - 16:00

Schmittenhöhe

In the heart of Austria lies Schmittenhöhe, the ski area of Zell am See. This home mountain sits right in front of the village. Winter sports on Schmittenhöhe is especially cozy and thus very suitable for beginners. The many mountain restaurants and slopes through the trees in various difficulty levels make this an area that will appeal to many winter sports enthusiasts. Schmittenhöhe doesn't have many challenging slopes, but there are some exceptions. Advanced skiers get their thrills from the Schüttabfahrt and Trassabfahrt.

⛷️ Recommended Lifts: Schmittenhöhebahn, Sonnkogelbahn & Sonnenalmbahn
🕐 Open: 08:30 - 16:00

Activities in the Area

KAPRUN

Klammsee

The azure-blue lake contrasts beautifully with the green surroundings. It's surrounded by stunning mountain landscapes, with high peaks and green alpine meadows. The path (approximately 1.8km) leads all the way around Klammsee, with wooden benches at various spots where you can enjoy the beautiful nature.

Fun Fact: Klammsee isn't a natural lake - it was formed by the construction of a dam. The water provides electricity for local offices of the Verbund hydropower plant. The higher reservoir lakes provide electricity for the rest of the region (closed in winter for tourism).
Sigmund Thun Gorge

Unfortunately, the gorge is closed in winter months, but there are still some spots with views into the gorge. Why is the gorge closed? In winter, the planks are covered with large masses of ice and snow, parts of bridges are gone. The most dangerous, but also most spectacular, are the massive ice waterfalls with meter-long icicles hanging from the rocks above the gorge.

💡 Worth the Visit It's really worth taking a look, as there are various places where you can see the ice wonder in the gorge. Via the path above the gorge, which is also accessible in winter, you get a beautiful view. Caution and sturdy hiking boots with good grip are required!
Maisi Flitzer

On the Alpine Coaster, you whizz down from the Maiskogel towards the valley in a toboggan on rails at speeds up to 40km/h. Just like on a roller coaster, you'll master bridges, waves, banked curves, and loops - and at some points you'll be up to eleven meters above the ground!

Kaprun Castle

Built in the 12th century by the Upper Bavarian noble family, the Kaprun Castle served as a residence for nobles and a defense facility. After falling into disrepair, it has been lovingly restored by the Burgverein Kaprun over recent decades. Today, the castle majestically looks down on the village of Kaprun - visit the imposing castle and admire the unique scenery.

Oldtimer Museum

Over 200 exhibits within 1,400 m²! Experience the fascination of past automobile dreams at Vötter's Oldtimer Museum. The museum exhibits vehicles from the 50s to 70s and older, including the "little man's" cars. The collection includes models from BMW Isetta to the Messerschmitt cabin scooter.

09

ZELL AM SEE

Lake Zell & Esplanade

Lake Zell in winter transforms into a frozen paradise, surrounded by snowy Alps. When writing this guide, the lake had completely frozen, allowing for rare ice skating and walking across the ice!

The Esplanade is the lake's promenade accompanied by the beautiful town. Visitors often explore every inch of this place as it offers panoramic views of the lake and mountains. Amazing cafes, bars, and restaurants line the entire Esplanade.

Gipfelwelt 3000

Three modern cable cars take you to a height of 3,000 meters where you can enjoy a 'flight' over the glacier. The special feature is the 360-meter-long tunnel that leads through the mountain to a breathtaking viewing platform at 3,029 meters altitude. Along the way, six stations inform visitors about the formation of the Alps, glaciers, and the Hohe Tauern, including a panoramic view of the Grossglockner.

Tauern SPA: Water/Sauna World

Covering 20,000 square meters, the TAUERN SPA offers 12 pools, 10 saunas and steam rooms, a separate children's and treatment area, plus fine food throughout the day. Water, water everywhere! Rest and relaxation meets action and adventure. Dive in and find out more!

Every Thursday at 20:00, join a free guided torchlight walk through wintry Zell am See. Look forward to an unforgettable 1.5-hour walk.

Frequently Asked Questions

📱 Online Updates
When we receive new questions, we'll answer them in the online version of this booklet.
Q: How do we write the free days in AFAS?
Everybody who joins this trip will automatically have 8 hours deducted from their holiday hours (no more, no less). You don't have to register anything else yourself!
Q: Are there any arrangements made for lunch/dinner/après-ski/activities?
No, except for the dinner on Saturday. We hope we've given you enough information to easily plan anything yourselves! Locations of where people are lunching or where we are gathering for the apres ski will be shared during the day.
Q: Will there be food during the bus trips?
No, please bring enough food for the duration of the bus trip. There is a fridge and even a microwave onboard. Underway there will be several stops at petrol stations but exact times when we stop cannot be mentioned.
Q: Is breakfast included?
Yes, breakfast is included in the hotel and is available between 7:00 and 10:00.
Q: What can I do if I'm unhappy with the room assignments?
Let someone from the party committee know and we can look for a solution together. Or you can switch with someone.
Q: I'm unsure who to eat lunch/dinner, ski, and/or do activities with. What do I do?
You can always join anybody from the party committee! A simple text message is sufficient. We're here to help you have a great time!
Q: What do I do when something happens (breaking a bone/getting lost, etc.)?
If you are not safe, always call emergency services first (112). Otherwise, contact the daily stand-by person from the party committee (see page 1 for the schedule). They will be available and (fairly) sober.
Q: Are there lockers at the skilift?
Yes, there are. You can leave them in the village or on top of the mountain if you don't want to carry them to/back the hotel. You have to arrange this yourselves.

Repowered auf der Piste

[Verse 1]

[Prechorus]
Hoch die Gläser, wir stoßen an
Auf Repowered, den besten Ski-Clan

[Chorus]
Repowered, hey hey, wir sind bereit
Repowered, hey hey, die Alpen schreien weit
Von der Hütte bis zur letzten Liftfahrt
Repowered, hey hey, wir feiern hart!

[Bridge]
Auf der Piste, ein Chaos, so wild
Repowered rockt, das Herz wird erfüllt
Egal ob Profi oder Anfänger heut
Repowered bringt alle, alle zum Freud'
Have an amazing trip! 🎿⛷️❄️
